Tihs is the Singer 66k sewing machine, a heavy cast iron machine, in black namel with gold decals which was a stalwart of the Singer range for around 50 years. This one was made in 1930.
It has a drop-in (top load) bobbin and it, of course, only produces a straight stitch.
As with any good quality straight stitch machine it will produce a perfect straight stitch, better than any swing needle machine can ever produce.
You may see this machine advertised as 'Semi-industrial'. It most certainly IS NOT it is a high quality, beautifully engineered, quite heavy duty domestic machine. It can cope with denim, heavy curtain fabrics and even soft leather, with no trouble.
It will sew very heavy fabrics (convas etc.) and produce an acceptable stitch on them, but it would probably damage it and, if used for such work on a larger scale it would be completely ruined. With such a beautiful machine this woud be tragic.
The machine has a wooden case with polished wood base and 'Rexine' covered lid.
Fully serviced and guaranteed for 1 year (provided it is used as a domestic machine)
